Expressing Gratitude to Allah s.w.t

By Nurul Afiqah

There are lots of blessings that Allah has given us in this worldly life; either we realize it or not. Praise be unto Allah the Most Merciful and Beneficent for giving us our precious life till now, breathing fresh air and carrying out our daily routine as a student as well as His caliph. Our eyes that we use for seeing, ears for hearing, nose for smelling and all our vital organs such as the heart, liver, kidney are all gifts from Allah to His creations. No one can afford to repay all of His blessings; therefore we should do good deeds and try to avoid immoral doings as ways to show and express our gratitude to the Almighty Allah S.W.T.

But the question is, how do we show our appreciation to Allah S.W.T?

Firstly, through performing the tahajjud. Tahajjud is one of the ways to express our appreciation as we sacrifice our precious time to worship Allah The Almighty when everyone is sleeping comfortably. We sacrifice our time waking up in the middle of the night to pray, recite the Holy Quran and performing other types of ibadah to show that we are thankful to Him. Tahajud is important to strengthen the bond between the Creator and His creations as well as to increase the Iman of a Mukmin.

Secondly, a Mukmin can also show their gratitude by reciting Al-Quran at least a phrase per day. Reciting Al-Quran indicates that we are glorifying His words, helping us to know Him better, and remembering Him all the time so that we can have a peaceful life in this world and hereafter. As Allah mentions in His Holy Quran : “By remembrance of Allah your heart will find satisfaction”.

Next, performing the Dhuha prayer. There are many benefits we can get when we perform this prayer. People who perform the Dhuha prayer will have their sins forgiven besides being bless with wealth.

Furthermore, giving charity to those in need is also among the good deeds that we have to practice in our life. Allah loves people who likes to donate some of their properties and by doing this, all the angels will pray for us. In addition, Allah will replace our belongings with something that is much better in the future.

The fifth is by preserving the wudhu’. Allah loves those who preserve their wudhu’. Caliph Ali bin Abu Talib said “The one who is in wudhu’ will always feel like he’s performing the prayer even though he is not; and he will be protected by the angels with the pray: for Allah to love him and forgive his sins.”

Last but not least, always ask for Allah’s forgiveness in our life. By practicing this, we’ll not tend to do bad things and it will help us to remember Allah all the time. This is how we can show our gratitude to Him; by obeying His orders and avoiding ourselves from His prohibitions.
