DENSS Buddies' Night 2013

 What are buddies?

Can we strive alone in dentistry?

How can we approach and ask our seniors and juniors?

To furnish our relationships
in kulliyyah of dentistry, especially inter-batch interactions, DENSS (which stands for Dentistry Students' Society)
has created a  'Buddies System' that allow us to have a family consisting of every dentistry students from Year 1 to Year 5. We are also informed that the freshly graduated second batch of dentistry students are still eligible for buddies system.

For Eximius, the first time meeting our buddies was last Wednesday. The Buddies' Night was held in KOD colourful auditorium as usual, and almost all of our seniors came to attend the event. They all had made a glorious sacrifice as they were willing to use their precious time (that I think they would rather spent for their clinical duties and assignments etc) just to welcome us, the first year of KOD.

Waiting for the event to start

The event started with the introduction of each of Eximius members in front of all the people in the auditorium. (Actually, we were not expecting that. So lucky for those who had 'accidentally' dressed up during that night) Really DENSS, you are willing to go that far to welcome us? Salute for you!

For the introduction, the buddies group number would appear in the screen, under the group number, there was the list of members from all year, and the first year students who had their name in that particular group must introduce themselves in front of the crowd. Only then can they go to their respective family.

After we already had met with our buddies, we are required to conduct a breaking ice session by answering leisure questionnaires among ourselves. This ice breaking was quite effective I must say, because it was not related to dentistry or classes. So we were not really stressed.

Simply put, the buddies system serves as a platform for the seniors-juniors interaction. If the juniors have problem, they can ask their senior buddies and vice versa.

After all, we did enjoy buddies night. We are able to get in contact with the seniors, we are able to share experiences and knowledge. Most importantly, we are able to have a new 'family'!

This is what dentistry is about. The path is difficult for a person to walk by himself. If he falls, there is no one to catch him if he is alone. We, humans are like that. We cannot live alone, that's why we need each other, not only in dentistry, but also in our life.

Merging buddies group for bigger family.
